Steve O'Brien is a founding member of Garmer & O'Brien. Steve has over 30 years' legal experience, and he continually obtains successful settlements and verdicts for his clients. His success in the courtroom and his commitment to upholding ethical standards within his profession has earned him an AV* rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can receive.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Steve has served as General Counsel to the Kentucky State Racing Commission. He is admitted to the Kentucky State Bar (1974); the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky (1976); the Florida State Bar (1976); and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth and Eleventh Circuits (1985).

In keeping with his commitment to professional development, Steve is a member of several influential professional organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association; the American Association for Justice; the Kentucky Bar Association; the Kentucky Bar Foundation, Charter Life Fellow; the Kentucky Justice Association, Board of Governors; the Fayette County Bar Association; and the Florida Bar. He also serves the legal community as adjunct Professor of Litigation Skills at the University of Kentucky College of Law. He is also a Continuing Legal Education Seminar Lecturer for the University of Kentucky College of Law, the Louisville Bar Association, the Fayette County Bar Association, and the Kentucky Justice Association.

Steve served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army from 1969-1971.
